Referee Server now contains links to references in the paper (May 1, 2004)The Referee Server (http://referees.aps.org) now contains links to the references in the paper under review (provided the submitted manuscript has a reference list our computer can parse). On the webpage for the manuscript under review, click on the link “Abstract and linked references. We encourage referees to consult the prior literature in evaluating manuscripts under review. Details: For the reference links to be activated properly, referees must have Javascript enabled. The resulting information is extracted automatically from the TeX source file. No human checks this output. Due to the complications involved, there may well be inaccuracies in the title, authors, abstract, references, and links. Errors in references are usually detected later in the review/production process. The reference section shown by the Referee Server has been modified from the original text for formatting and interpretation reasons. Some bibliographies are not formatted well enough to process properly. The server program tries to split multiple references. Occasionally, the numbers of the references are offset by a small number. There is no need to report such technical problems to the APS. Links to APS journals go either to the online archive (PROLA) or to the current online contents. Abstracts and references are available for free but users require a subscription (individual or institutional) to access the full text. |
