The American Physical Society (APS) has signed a formal archiving agreement with Portico to preserve its journal collection. Founded in 1899, APS has established itself as one of the world's most prominent membership organizations serving physicists. With a global membership that exceeds 45,000, APS is dedicated to the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of physics by providing programs, publications, meetings and public outreach.
Through this agreement with Portico, APS makes certain that Physical Review archival files, dating back to 1893, are preserved for future scholars, researchers, and students. This includes its collection of 9 journals: Physical Review, Physical Review Letters and Reviews of Modern Physics. As part of the agreement, APS will make an annual financial contribution to support Portico's ongoing operations.
With the inclusion of APS journal publications, over 5,300 titles have now been entrusted to the Portico archive. The complete list of journal titles is available at http://www.portico.org/about/committed_titles_alpha.html [1] and a list of participating publishers is available at http://www.portico.org/about/part_publishers.html [2].
Please visit the Portico website to view a current list of participating libraries [3] .
