2007 Nobel Prize announcement (October 9, 2007)

The APS congratulates Dr. Albert Fert and Dr. Peter Grünberg for their 2007 Nobel Prize given for "the discovery of Giant Magnetoresistance". We are proud that their papers describing their work, Physical Review B 39, 4828 (1989) [1] and Physical Review Letters 61, 2472 (1988) [2], were published in APS journals. On this occasion, APS has made these two papers "Free to Read", so that they are accessible on the internet without subscription. For more information, please see this APS press release [3].
