What are APS Journal accounts?
As part of a new initiative to bring better services to our readers, authors, referees, and members, the APS has introduced APS Journal accounts. These new accounts enable you to sign up for journal table of contents email alerts, access APS journals and PROLA with a member subscription, download articles with an APS Article Pack, or maintain access to articles purchased with a credit card. In addition, APS journal authors and referees must use APS Journal accounts to sign into our submission and referee servers and update their contact information and, for referees, their areas of expertise and availability. APS members may also use their account to sign in to membership services.
To set up an APS Journal account, please visit https://publish.aps.org/signup [1]. There are two ways to sign up:
After choosing your username and password, we will validate your email address by sending you an email with the subject "Please activate your APS Journal account." Please visit the link contained in that email to complete the activation process. Please note that your account will not be fully activated until you do this final step.
After your activation is complete, you may log in by visiting https://publish.aps.org/account [2] with your username and new secure password. From here you can manage your account, sign up for email alerts and confirm your subscriptions if you are an individual subscriber. You should visit the “Manage Account” tab and verify the information there. You may also log in by using the links at the top of the APS journal web pages.

How can I find out if I am already signed up for an APS Journal account?

Visit the page https://publish.aps.org/login [5] and click the ‘Forgot your username/password?’ link and enter your email address. If you do not have an account you will get a message telling you there is no account currently associated with the email address. If you do have an account you will receive an email with your username and a link that gives you the opportunity to reset your password should you need to do so. If you have more than one email account make sure you are checking the email that you used when creating the APS Journal account. Also, check your spam filter to see if the message went there. If you still haven't received it, please contact help@aps.org [6].
From most APS Journal pages (for example, http://publish.aps.org/ [7]), on the right hand side of the banner at the top of the page, click on the "Log in" link. Once you are logged in, you should see your name and a link to "My Account". To log out, simply click on the "Log out" link.
How can I change my email address?
Log in to your account and go to the "Manage Account" tab. You can change your primary email address by first adding and confirming a new email address and then making this new address your primary one. Then you may remove the old email address.
I didn’t get my activation email. How can I activate my account?

Your account was created successfully. Trying to activate twice would give you the message you received. You should be able to log in with your new account.
How can I verify that I can use my account for my APS member journal (and PROLA) subscriptions?
You may check this yourself by going to the 'Manage Account' tab after logging into https://publish.aps.org/account [2] and looking at the section labeled 'Roles'. You should be listed as an APS member and your subscriptions should be listed there as well. If you do not see a 'Roles' section or your subscription is missing, please contact help@aps.org [6].

How do I sign up for journal table of contents email alerts?
You simply need to log into your account via the 'My Account' home page. There you will find an 'Alerts' tab where you can sign up for alerts. You can log in by going directly to https://publish.aps.org/account [2] or by clicking on the 'Log in' link on the banner of most APS journal web pages (upper right corner).
Can I use my APS Journal account to submit a referee report?
Yes, APS Journal accounts are, in fact, now required to use the referee server.
Can I use my APS Journal account to submit a paper?
Yes, APS Journal accounts are, in fact, now required to use the submissions server.
Can I use my APS Journal account to access APS member services?
Yes, you may. When you log in to the APS Member Profile service, you will be prompted if you would like to use your APS Journal account username and password instead.
