Printer-friendly versionJournal Graphics Redesign (August 29, 2001)
The home page for the APS Journals has been redesigned. It now has a simpler, less cluttered format, similar to that of the individual journals:
- Links to individual APS publications are arrayed down the left-hand side of the page, and links across the top (repeated at the bottom) lead to new pages which provide access to information and services in a number of categories.
- A convenient lookup box near the top allows users to go directly to any article in APS journals, from 1893 to the present, if they know the bibliographic citation information [volume and page (or article identifier, for articles published in the new e-firstmode)].
- The middle of the page provides recent news about APS journals, and displays current images from Physical Review Letters and Physical Review Focus.
Details about the information pages:
- The links at the top and bottom lead to pages which collect information and services of particular interest to various categories of users ( Authors , Referees , Librarians ) and to pages for various categories of information/services ( Subscriptions , Online Services , Help , Contact Information ) which cut across categories of users.
- The Authors page includes links to frequently accessed services and information of interest to authors, such as the Style and Notation Guide, the PACS scheme, the Manuscript Submission/Resubmission Server, the Copyright Transfer Form, the Author Status Inquiry System, and the Accepted Manuscript Status Inquiry System, and to a wide range of other material.
- Similarly, the Referees page includes links to the Referee Response Form, the PACS scheme, and other material.
- The new Librarians/Institutional Information home page has been established to help librarians, corporate and institutional representatives, and subscription agents to find pertinent information in an easy format. . Read more .
- The Online Services page lists, and provides links to, a variety of online services associated with the APS journals (aside from the online journals themselves), such as the Manuscript Submission/Resubmission Server, the Author Status Inquiry System, the Accepted Manuscript Status Inquiry System, the Advance Listing of Accepted Papers, the Article Purchases server (which allows those who do not subscribe to a journal to quickly obtain access to an article) and the APS/BNL Mirror of the Eprint Archive.
- The Help page links to the help pages for the online journals, and to other information pages relevant to the journals.
- The Contact Information page provides information about how to contact (via mail, email, web, phone, and/or fax) the appropriate part of the Journals operation for various purposes.
