Two theoretical treatments have been employed to investigate various angular distributions of ejected electrons following the photoionization of the msns Rydberg states in the alkaline-earth atoms. The specific analytic expressions of angular distributions in terms of reduced dipole matrix elements have been carried out. The characteristics of angular distributions are interpreted in detail. © 1996 The American Physical Society.
